Getting your files and folders to cloud storage in a secure, fast manner is one thing, but from time to time you need to share access to a specific file, folder or even an entire path. This itself has to be done in an expedited and secure way.
Couchdrop offers the ability to share files, folders, and paths, as well there is a feature set to ensure that you maintain control of your files, even when sharing.

How to share a file or folder with Couchdrop
- Navigate to https://my.couchdrop.io/manage/files
- Locate the file you are wishing to share and click on the three dots
- You will be presented a dropdown menu, select Create Shared Link
- You will be taken to a page where you can customise the settings such as add a password and set a time for the link to expire, you will also find the shareable link at the top of the page where you can share this with others to access the file for download.
- Click Save Settings, your file/folder will now have a shared link.
How to password protect a shared link
If you have created a link you wish to share and did not password protect, or if you are creating a new shared link, adding a password to protect is simple.
- Head to the shared link dashboard within your Couchdrop portal
- Either modify a current or create a new link
- On the screen, you will be shown Settings and below that will be "Password (Optional)"
- Enter your desired password here and Save Settings
Adding an expiry timer to a shared link
Sometimes you share items and you do not wish for it to be permanent, with Couchdrop you can easily add an expiry timer to the link for it to be removed and inaccessible after a period of time.
To do this,
- Head to the shared link dashboard within your Couchdrop portal
- Either modify a current or create a new link
- On the screen, you will be shown Settings and below that will be "Expiry"
- Click on Change where you will be presented a list of expiry time options. Select your desired expiry time.
- Once selected, Save Settings and your link will expire at the selected interval.
