To prevent the need to constantly enter a full path to a specific folder or if using a connector such as Google Shared Drives, SharePoint Sites or Dropbox Business Team Drives you will need to specify the root (default) directory.
Configure your storage connector
Navigate to your storage dashboard and connect a new storage. In this case we are going to set a Dropbox Business Team Drive.
- Enter a mount point (provide a meaningful name)
- Authenticate your connector (in this case it is Dropbox OAuth)
- Save Storage
Configure your default connector path
Return back to the storage connector you just created.
- Select 'Browse Storage' or enter a sub-path if you know it
- Navigate through your storage and select what you wish to be the default connector directory and click done
- Save Storage
In this scenario the default Dropbox directory is now the SFTP folder inside of the Couchdrop Shared Workspace Team Drive. So technically the /dropboxbusiness directory now translates or redirects to /teamdrive:couchdroptest's shared workspace/SFTP
Configuring Users to Specific Directories
Now that you've configured a "shorthand" method of access a folder within your connector without having to enter in a full-path each time. Within the SFTP folder that is in the Team Drive above, we have created two folders for this scenario. We will create two users, one will have access to both folders, the other user will have access to only one folder.
Administrator view of /dropboxbusiness (technically/teamdrive:couchdroptest's shared workspace/SFTP)in the Virtual File System - take note of the folder path
Full Access User
We've set the root directory for this user to be the mount point we specified earlier (/dropboxbusiness) this will put the user directly in the "SFTP" folder and see anything nested.
The users view in the Couchdrop portal - take note that there is no path as this is their root folder.
You can see via SFTP the user has the same view as above.
Limited Access User
Below you can see we've gone directory deeper and restricted this users default directory to FolderA within the '/teamdrive:couchdroptest's shared workspace/SFTP' folder. But instead of having to write out the whole path, we can just enter /dropboxbusiness/foldera as /dropboxbusiness is shorthand for /teamdrive:couchdroptest's shared workspace/SFTP
This users view from the portal note this user's default folder is "FolderA" and this is the default folder they drop into.
Users view from the SFTP terminal, you can see there were no files, then we uploaded orders.csv (above).
View from within actual storage console
How this looks through the Dropbox console for additional information, you can see we are under the "SFTP" folder.
